It is Wednesday 4.38 in the morning. I am having a pleasant sleep, or at least I was.
Then I hear a noise in the distance, it is far enough away to ignore.
But it keeps getting louder.
It is getting to loud to ignore.
It is the 3 drunken students walking home.
Bastards!
They are arguing about something. Yip, they are shouting aggressively at each other about something. Although I am annoyed, I am now awake and I am now also vaguely interested. What are they arguing about? I start to listen.
There are three voices, two of the drunken student voices seem to be on the same side arguing against the other drunken student voice. The one voice rises above the other two voices, demanding to be heard.
“The only reason I said it, was because I knew what would have happened if I didn’t say it, and it nearly did happen. And if it did happen, you would have been sorry that I didn’t say what I did say. So because of me and what I said, he didn’t do the thing he would have done. So, FUCK YOU!”
One of the other voices pipes up.
“No, fuck you, fuck you! That’s not what happened.
We were in control, we knew what was going on and we knew what he was going to do, and it would have been fine, but he didn’t do it, because when you said what you said, he didn’t do was he was going to do, and he done the thing he did do. You fucked it up for us all. So, FUCK YOU!”
Now, the third voice feels like he should also contribute. I think he knows I am listening.
“Yeahhh, you fuck, you fucked it. Maaaan, we knew, or at least we would have known until you fucked it, now the only thing we know is that you fucked it,,,, FUCK!”
The voices start to get quieter until they disappear into the distance. I am left wondering. What did he do? What happened? Fuck, I’m tired. Sleep.
Then, high heals, shrieking, giggling. It is five drunk student girls. It is going to be a long sleepless night.

Why is royal mail striking? Does anyone know? Is it just because that’s what happens at this time of the year, like Halloween? Does anyone know the reason for Halloween? A government ploy to get rid of surplus monkey nuts perhaps. An ingenious marketing plan derived from the dark hearts of pumpkin farmers.
Personally, I support the postal strike. I support anyone who strikes, anyone who strikes it to the man, anyone who displays any kind socialist type behaviour. I am also fed up getting loads of letters from people telling me I have won a car, a holiday, a yacht. Amazing, I am so lucky. I never even entered the competitions. No I don’t want a loan, I don’t want another credit card, I am already in debt and I don’t like pizza, no I don’t want to give my money to your charity, I have negative money. A wee rest bite from all this junk mail will be good. I really do wish I had a spam folder for my real door. Maby I should get a dog, call him spam and teach him to eat everything that comes through my letter box.
I wonder do the postal workers have picket lines? Would a line of angry postmen be an effective deterrent. I mean, angry coal miners are a threatening proposition, but a swarm of hostile postmen just seems kind of comical to me. I keep thinking of postman pat. Imagine being berated by an angry mob of postman pat type characters.
I would like to give the postmen there dues. I think anyone who is against the strike is just jealous because they cant strike. Don’t be so bitter, you get to sit in a warm office all day, you get to sit and drink tea, the most physically demanding thing you need to do is press the button on the lift, you get your sick days and you can take them anytime you want,,,,, not just in the run up to Christmass.

I have recently completed two new web sites. <a href="http://www.jimstruth.co.uk">Jimstruth.co.uk</a> and <a href="http://www.gypfast.co.uk">Gypfast.co.uk</a>.
Jimstruth.co.uk highlights the artwork of Strathaven and Glasgow based artist Jim Struth. Jquery was used to create the Gallery section.
Gypfast.co.uk focuses on the new Gypfast product. Wordpress is used as the content management system for this site.

As well as creating web sites I also play and create music. I have noticed a similarity between the music industry and the design industry in regards to software/hardware and the end product.
There is the ever ragging battle between Mac users and PC users, both stating that there platform is the better. Then there is the software, Freehand or Illustrator, Reason or Logic, Quark or In Design, Cubase or Pro Tools, the list goes on. I get the feeling that some people research and discuss software and hardware more than actually using the said tools to create anything.
Yes I think that software and hardware can have a hand in shaping the final product be it a song or a design but ultimately a good design or good song does not transpire because of the tools that were used to create it. In my opinion a good song will still be a good song whether it is created on an acoustic guitar or created in a software package such as Reason. I also hold this view in regards to web and graphic design. A logo or page layout can be designed using only a pencil and a bit of paper and still be a good design.
I guess what I am trying to say that software and hardware are only tools in the same way a hammer is the tool of a joiner. Maybe a joiner has a favorite hammer but how many times do you hear a joiner arguing or discussing his choice of hammer with another joiner? Maybe I am being over simplistic,,,, or deliberately provocative!

<p>I work as a web designer in an IT department so of course keeping up to date with new internet trends is part of my job. However, sometimes it feels like I am swimming against the tide. As soon as I start to get a handel on one new skill set I start to hear about a new better way of doing things.</p>
<p>In this industry it sometimes feels like it is the tools operating the workers, Is this the way it should be? Let me clarify what I am trying to say. A navigation bar for a web site is a simple concept, It should allow users the ability to navigate through the site with minimal effort.</p>
<p>A navigation bar is generally a simple thing to create for most web designers. Yes the navigation should look part of the site as a whole, but how complicated does it need to be? How many hours extra should be invested in a java script, flash or moo tools driven navigation? How many extra hours will be needed to maintain this new navigation when changes to the structure of the site take place? Then again it is allways fun learning and some of those moo tools menus are pretty cool!</p>
